LOW BACK PAIN RIGHT SIDE
Uncategorized

7 reasons for “low back pain right side”.

The prevalence of low back pain is seen in all age groups. People between 35 and 55 ages are commonly affected. Untreated low back pain can cause disability. There are several surveys in multiple countries that reveal 60-80% of people have low back pain for a lifetime. Reasons for low back pain right side or unilateral low back pain may be mechanical or chemical in origin.  In chemical origin; Irritation of free nerve ending by some chemical which releases due to inflammation or infection. In mechanical origin; the Irritation of free nerve ending by abnormal mechanical stress, →nociceptive or pain receptor system gets activated→pain arrives. 1. Sitting for a prolonged period(Occupational posture): Office workers who work for 8 – 9 hours a day in poor posture may develop low back pain right side. Poor office ergonomics is also an important factor for developing low backache.     Reasons are: When you sit for a few minutes, your back muscles get tired and relax, so this results in slouched sitting posture. If you maintain this posture for a long time, your spinal ligaments are under stress and cause pain. A poorly designed chair is used in a long-sitting workplace. The height of the table is not perfect according to your height. In the present COVID-19  pandemic situation, many companies offer their workers to work from home. Improper ergonomic care, and working for a long time in bed, are also the burning problem behind low back pain. Keeping a wallet in the back pocket during sit. Long drive with poorly design seat. 2. Sudden movement: When you sleep in bed, your back muscles are not working and at rest. Then you suddenly sit up in bed because of some disturbance. This type of movement causes excess stress in the back. If your back muscles are not too functional because of a lack of physical activity, you may get pain. 3. Poor weight lifting technique: One of the big causes of back pain is lifting the heavy object incorrectly and repeatedly.      Cause of low back pain for heavy weight lifting: Rounding the back during lifting the object may damage the lumbar vertebrae. Hold the load far away from your body. It will increase the load in the lumbar vertebrae. Sudden jerky weight lifting is also an important cause. If you already have any spinal pathology and the symptom increases in forwarding bending. Lifting weight may aggravate the symptom.  4. Trauma or injury: Traumatic low back pain is due to injury of muscle and ligaments. Reasons : Sudden whiplash-type injury causes sudden straightening of the spine and injury occurs.  Muscle spasm. A compression fracture in osteoporotic patients. Tear or Strain of muscle or ligaments. 5. Degenerative disc disease: Degenerative disc disease occurs when discs between the vertebrae shrink, dehydrate, and compress. Gradually loss of normal structure and function of the disc. Causes of disc injury are improper weight lifting, injury, aging, poor posture, and traumatic injury. 6. Facet joint syndrome: One of the most common reasons for low back pain right side is facet joint syndrome. Common sites of facet joint pain are L4-L5 and L5-S1. Facet joint syndrome occurs when the uneven weight transfers through the spine. Because of this, wear and tear of joints occur as a result of arthritis occurs. Joint became inflamed. Irritated joints send pain sensation via nerves. 7. Obesity as a cause of low back pain right side : An obese person may experience low back pain due to herniated disk or structural change of intervertebral disk. Cause, prevention, treatment of obesity. CONCLUSION: There are so many reasons behind low back pain. Knowing the cause helps you to take proper steps for a cure. SOME OTHER CAUSE OF BACK PAIN: Kidney stone or kidney infection. Endometriosis. Ovarian cyst. Abdominal aortic aneurysm. Pancreatic cancer. Sacroiliac joint problem.

DIABETES TYPES
METABOLIC DISEASE

DIABETES TYPES, CAUSES, AND EFFECTIVE WAYS TO PREVENT.

Diabetes types, according to WHO, can classify into two major categories:  type 1 diabetes (T1DM) and type 2 diabetes (T2DM). The leading cause of both types of diabetes is abnormal glucose homeostasis. Diabetes is a metabolic disorder mainly characterized by polyuria, polydipsia, polyphagia, weight loss, blurry vision due to insulin deficiency or reduced biological function of insulin, or both. Thomas Willis coined the term diabetes mellitus. ‘Diabetes’ is a Greek word meaning – ‘siphon, to pass through’ or ‘polyuria,’ and ‘Mellitus’ is a Latin word meaning ‘honeyed’ or ‘sweet,’ which means “Flow of sugar in the urine.” DIABETES TYPES, CAUSE, and PREVENTION: 1. TYPE 1 (INSULIN-DEPENDENT DIABETES MELLITUS): Insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus is due to the destruction of ß cells in islets of Langerhans of the pancreas. It is also called Juvenile onset diabetes(onset most common in childhood) or Insulinopenic.  CAUSE OF TYPE 1 DIABETES: In type 1 DM, Autoimmune attack on ß cells by autoreactive T-cell. In genetically susceptible individuals, loss of tolerance to ß cells autoantigens. The pancreas has almost 70% of functional ß cells. Therefore, a large number of ß cells are destroyed before patients suffer from IDDM. In some cases, cytokines Inhibit insulin secretion. Cytokines are interleukin 1, TNF-α, TNF-β, interferon-gamma. Some environmental factors are also responsible for Type 1 DM, like Cow milk, Gluten, vitamin D deficiency. PREVENTION OF TYPE 1 DIABETES: a. Say no to Cow or Bovine Milk : Bovine serum albumin is structurally very similar to islet p69 protein. Therefore, when your baby is fed with cow milk, the baby’s body produces antibodies against the bovine serum protein, which is very similar to a baby’s ß cells. As a result, the baby’s ß cells may be injured due to a mismatched immune response. The reason behind mismatching is– early exposure to CM results in immunization to bovine insulin, a molecule that differs structurally from human insulin in only three amino acid positions. The whey-based hydrolyzed formula is a good alternative. A partially hydrolyzed whey protein-based infant formula supports adequate infant growth, with a daily weight gain equivalent to a standard intact protein-based formula; it is also safe for use and well-tolerated in healthy term infants. Best reviewed Baby food: For the UNITED STATES:  Gerber Purees 2nd Foods Veggie & Fruit Variety. For INDIA: Nestle CEREGROW b. Breastfeed: Babies who are extensively breastfed for a prolonged period have a lower risk of developing type 1 diabetes. c. Gluten-diabetogenic agent:        Several studies have suggested that gluten is a diabetogenic agent. There is an association between the introduction of cereals in infancy and early beta-cell autoimmunity. In addition, pregnant women who take high amounts of gluten had double the risk of having a child with type 1 DM compared to those who ate the least gluten. Gluten is found in wheat, rye, and barley. d. Vitamin-D: Vitamin D deficiency is a risk factor for type 1 DM.  Source of vitamin D- Allow children to play in sunlight or spend time in sunlight. Consume fatty fish and seafood.  Eat more mushrooms. Include egg yolks in your diet. Eat fortified foods. Vitamin D supplement. e. Omega-3 fatty acid: Omega-3 fatty acids have also been reported to play a protective role in developing Type 1 DM.  helps in reducing the risk of beta-cell autoimmunity. The Source of Omega-3 fatty acid is: Take fish and other seafood like- salmon, mackerel, tuna, herring. Eat nuts and seeds, such as flaxseed, walnuts.  Plant oils, such as flaxseed oil, soybean oil. Cod liver oil. Cod liver oil buying guide: For INDIA: WOW Omega-3 Fish Oil Triple Strength. For the United States: Amazing Omega Norwegian Cod Liver Oil f. Physical activity: Along with diet, physical activity is also very much beneficial for the prevention of diabetes. The benefit of physical activity is a healthy body, positive self-esteem, improve memory, good mental health. Tips to make your kids physically active: Walk to school. Encourage your children to play with others in the park. Say no to the tv, video game, mobile, etc. 2. TYPE 2 (NON INSULIN DEPENDENT DIABETES MELITUS): Type 2 DM is also known as Maturity onset diabetes mellitus or Non-immune dependent diabetes mellitus. Abnormal insulin secretion and insulin resistance are the factors responsible for type 2 DM. CAUSE OF TYPE 2 DIABETES:  The insulin receptor is unable to respond to insulin. As a result, your body is unable to use insulin. Insulin resistance is also accompanied by central or visceral obesity, arterial hypertension, dyslipidemia, cardiovascular disease.  Type 2 DM is characterized by impaired insulin secretion due to B cell dysfunction, insulin resistance at peripheral receptors that leads to excessive hepatic glucose production, and abnormal fat metabolism. Beta-cell reduces up to 50% in a person who has long-standing diabetes. PREVENTION OF TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS: a. Lifestyle Modificaion: Stress is the origin of many diseases, and diabetes is one of them. Mental stress induces the secretion of the Cortisol hormone, which further elevates the blood glucose level.  Tips to improve lifestyle: Yoga. Mindfulness. Physically active. Healthy eating. b. Diet: Diabetes can be control and prevented by proper diet.  First of all, avoid certain food groups like carbohydrates and fats. Healthy diet tips: A high intake of vegetables and fruits should be encouraged. Grain products should mainly be unrefined, with high natural fiber content. Vegetable sources of fat with low saturated fat content (such as olive oil) should be preferred. As a source of protein, nuts, legumes, dairy products, and fish should be favored and red meat limited. The intake of highly processed foods (e.g., processed meat, sweetened beverages, confectionery) should be limited. c.Physically active: Physical activity helps in the regulation of glucose homeostasis.  Physical activity category according to steps per day: A sedentary person walks less than 5000 steps per day. Low (typical daily activity) walks 5000-7499 steps per day. Moderate( equivalent to 30 min moderate-intensity physical activity per day) walks 7500-9999 steps per day. High (equivalent to 45 min moderate-intensity physical activity per day) walks 10000-12499 steps per

“OBESITY WOMAN” Cause, prevention, and treatment.

Obesity has become a global problem, and it appeared as a great challenge to all people of the world. According to WHO, more than 1.9 billion adults aged 18 and older were overweight, and 650 million adults were obese. And it is increasing day by day. Obesity woman has a significant role in contributing to the global burden of chronic non-communicable diseases.  DEFINITION OF OBESITY:  Obesity can be described as an accumulation of excessive body fat that may harm an individual’s health.   Obesity is designated by body mass index (BMI) calculated by body weight divided by the square of height. In general, BMI less than 18.5 kg/m2 is considered underweight, 18.524.9 kg/m2 is a normal or healthy weight, 25 kg/m2 or greater is overweight, and 30 kg/m2 or greater is obese. CAUSE OF”OBESITY WOMAN”: 1. GENETIC INFLUENCE(FAMILY HISTORY):  Few numbers of obese patients develop adiposity directly or indirectly from particular genetic defects. Sometimes trisomy 21 results in abnormal production of some hormones that are related to obesity. Other congenital defects like Cohen syndrome, Wiedemann syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, and Bardet-Biedl syndrome can cause obesity.  2. EATING BEHAVIOR: Unhealthy eating habits cause obesity, no doubt. One of the most important causes of obesity is to consume palatable unhealthy food(fat, sugar). The “pleasure centre” of the brain activates the opioid system and dopaminergic system when we take unhealthy food. “55 Powerful Eating Habits That Will Keep You Healthy & Feeling Energized”- This book helps you a lot to make a healthy diet.   You can read his book using this link :   For INDIA: 55 Powerful Eating Habits That Will Keep You Healthy & Feeling Energized.   For the UNITED STATES: 55 Powerful Eating Habits That Will Keep You Healthy & Feeling Energized.       3. MEDICINE THAT MAY CAUSE OBESITY: Excessive appetite may stimulate by some medicine. Increase food intake and reduce physical activity may lead to overweight. Some medicine affects the body’s metabolism. By burn calory at a slower rate. Example of this type of medicines are: Antidepressants ( amitriptyline, doxepin). Corticosteroid(prednisolone). Antihistamines(cetrezine, desloratadine). Epilepsy medication(Gabapentin, pregabalin). Beta-blockers (atenolol, metoprolol). Insulin. 4. STRESSFUL LIFE( DEPRESSION): A stressful life can be responsible for the development of emotional eating. Some people feel free to eat whenever they are stressed or depressed emotionally. Stress causes alterations of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis. Chronic stress can increase insulin, cortisol levels. And it can promote preference of eating more palatable food resulting in visceral fat.  5. LACK OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:  Lack of physical activity is one of the most important causes of obesity. Now we are in the digital era; many people do their job in chairs and tables most of the day. The internet, T.V., browser, video game make us too lazy. Physical activity is very crucial for normal body activity. If you need to lose weight, there was no alternative to physical activity. EFFECT OF OBESITY IN WOMEN:  Our society has become more technical and digital. Most people do computer work rather than physical work.  Modern technology has given us a more comfortable life. But every rose has its thorn. The result of a more comfortable life is less physical work causing an increase in body weight. Generally, there are more obese women than males.  Obesity increases the risk of many diseases as: Diabetes. Hypertension. Dyslipidemia. Gallbladder disease. Coronary heart disease. Gout. Hyperuricemia. Obesity highly increases the chance of infertility in women.  Overweight is also associated with polycystic ovary syndrome. PREVENTION OF “OBESITY WOMAN”: 1. ORTHOPAEDIC

“OSTEOARTHRITIS OF KNEE” – 10 effective treatments.

Osteoarthritis of knee is the most widespread health problem worldwide. The common causes of osteoarthritis of the knee are ageing (wear and tear), obesity, and previous knee trauma or surgery. Although there is some sign of inflammation, it is not primarily an inflammatory disease. OA is not purely a degenerative disease. Osteoarthritis has both the feature of destruction and repair. SYMPTOMS OF OSTEOARTHRITIS OF KNEE: Morning stiffness lasts less than 30 minutes. Crepitus during active motion. Bony tenderness. Bony enlargement. Skin temperature is average. Restricted joint range of motion. Swelling of joint. Pain during staring or after use. Locking may occur. OSTEOARTHRITIS CAUSE: Knowing the cause is very much crucial for treating osteoarthritis. Increase mechanical stress- in some parts of the joint. This stress may due to increase load or reduce joint space. (e.g., bow knee, knock knee) Trauma or any Inflammatory disease- may cause damage to articular cartilage because of inflammatory reaction, inflammatory mediator release, which suppresses the synthesis of proteoglycan. Inheritance- plays an important in OA. Gender- Postmenopausal women suffer more in OA and, the reason is estrogen level goes down. Estrogens influence different joint tissue metabolism at many crucial levels and through several complex molecular mechanisms. Obesity- If your body weight increase. Then joint pressure also increases. This pressure may lead to wear and tear, followed by OA. OSTEOARTHRITIS OF KNEE TREATMENT: The fundamental treatment of osteoarthritis is to eliminate the modifiable causative factor. 1.PHYSIOTHERAPY FOR OSTEOARTHRITIS OF KNEE:  a.)Strengthening exercise: Muscle-strengthening exercise helps to overcome the following problem: intra-articular and extra-articular inflammatory processes, reflex inhibition in response to pain and joint effusion, decreased protective muscular reflexes, and loss of mechanical integrity of joints.  Isometric exercise of quadriceps and hamstring muscle.  Speedy type isometric exercise helps to reduce knee effusion. Slow and sustained type isometric exercise helps to reduce pain and improves muscle strength. Isotonic exercise- Quadriceps, Hamstring. Isokinetic exercise of the knee joint.  (Types of exercise choose according to the presence of pain and grades of OA) b.)Stretching exercise:  Stretching of your Quadriceps, Hamstring, Calf muscle helps a lot. c.)Range of motion exercise: Here the patient sits at the plinth edge and actively flexes and extends the knee joint in a free-swinging movement within the pain limits. d.)Aerobic exercise:  Cardiovascular exercise or aerobic exercise help to improve physical fitness and cardiovascular fitness. (e.g., stationary cycle, walking, swimming). [N.B: Consult with a certified physiotherapist before doing the exercise ] 2.SHOE OR SOLE : Most patients have medial compartment osteoarthritis knee because of genu varum or bow knee. We can correct this deformity using a lateral wedge insole. This lateral wedge insole reduces the pressure on the medial compartment of the knee. Arthritis shoe induces a good shock absorber, good mediolateral support, adequate arch support, calcaneal cushion. 3.UNLOADING BRACE: A knee brace provides stability, support and reduces pain. This type of braces helps to reduce the force of the overloaded compartment. According to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), a knee unloading brace has a profound effect on the medial compartment osteoarthritis.  4.WEIGHT LOSS: The person who is overweight has a greater chance of OA. Reduced body weight may help by reducing loads on weight-bearing joints (Felson 1996, Felson et al 1997; Messier et al. 2000; Toda et al. 1998). Normal body weight helps to improve overall physical health. TIPS TO REDUCE BODY WEIGHT: Daily physical activity. Follow the proper diet. Sleep 7-8 hr (adult). Never miss breakfast. Drink enough water. Say no to alcohol. 5.PHARMACOLOGIC DRUG USED IN OSTEOARTHRITIS OF KNEE: Drugs that help to reduce pain can assist in maintaining mobility and improving quality of life. Oral NSAIDs are primarily effective in limiting pain by their capacity to reduce inflammation and nociceptive pain through COX-2 inhibition.  Drugs frequently used are. Acetaminophen can be useful in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. NSAIDs (celecoxib, diflunisal, etodolac, fenoprofen, glucosamine and chondroitin). 6.WALKING STICK: Canes help to reduce joint load and improve stability or balance. It prevents fall injury. Using the cane in the hand opposite your weakness shifts your body weight to the stronger side. 7.ELECTROTHERAPY: Several studies have evaluated the effectiveness of  PSWD for improving symptoms of osteoarthritis. Electroacupuncture had been found to reduce pain, stiffness associated with osteoarthritis.  Interferential current ( IFT) also used.  8.TAI-CHI: Thi chi helps to pumps the blood and fluids of the body through the muscles, tendons and joints, this facilitates the removal of waste and replenish with nutrients. The Sun-style 24 forms Tai Chi exercise is effective in decreasing pain, stiffness, fear of falling and it improves balance, rising time, and knee joint motion. 9.TOPICAL ROUTE: Topical medication that has been used for OA of the knee includes salicylates, capsaicin, and NSAID. Salicylates have not been shown to be effective for pain relief in patients with OA. 10.INTRA-ARTICULAR CORTICOSTEROID INJECTION: Intra-articular corticosteroid injections have been used extensively in the management of symptomatic osteoarthritis of the knee. Improvement using corticosteroid injection is not permanent it lasts up to two weeks. Intraarticular (IA) corticosteroid injections can be considered as an adjunct to core treatment for short term reduction of moderate to severe pain in people with osteoarthritis (OA).  Tell us about your symptom our team will guide you.

Painful Cramps Lower Abdomen! – never mess with it, And why?

Menstrual cramps are pulsating or cramping pains in the lower abdomen (Dysmenorrhea). It prevents a woman from performing the normal activity. Painful cramps lower abdomen during periods may be an indication of many serious problems. There is a misconception that painful cramps in the lower abdomen during menstruation are normal. Ovarian cyst, ovarian cancer, endometriosis, cervical dysplasia, uterine fibroid, cervical stenosis also sometimes produce painful cramps(secondary dysmenorrhea). We can classify “Painful Cramps Lower Abdomen” into two groups (Dysmenorrhea): 1. Primary dysmenorrhea: (Spasmodic): Also called idiopathic or true dysmenorrhea.  It starts with the onset or just before menstruation. Intensity is the same in every period. No identifiable pelvic pathology. Mostly in teens. Cause – Prostaglandins are released with maximum production during the shedding of the endometrium. It is a strong vasoconstrictor, which causes ischemia of the myometrium. Prostaglandins stimulate the smooth muscle to contract. For the same reason, prostaglandin also triggers nausea and vomiting. Tension and Anxiety are one of the most important reasons. The pain is usually cured following vaginal delivery and pregnancy. Prostaglandin synthesis inhibitors (NSAIDs) are very effective. 2. Secondary dysmenorrhea:(Congestive): Develop after a phase of pain-free menstruation (after 25 years). It starts (3-5 days) before the onset of menstruation. Increase with time. Painful sex. Pelvic pathology usually present. The patient may get some discomfort even between periods. No systemic discomfort. Cause of secondary dysmenorrhea (Painful Cramps Lower Abdomen):  A.) Intrauterine cause of secondary dysmenorrhea : 1.Adenomyosis- The term adenomyosis is derived from the terms adeno-(meaning gland), myo- (meaning – muscle), and -osis (meaning condition). Adenomyosis is a condition where the uterine wall grows thicker as endometrial tissue moves into the muscle of the uterus. Parous women between the age of 35 and 50 are commonly affected.  It results in heavy and longer bleeding than usual. It is not life-threatening, but sometimes it causes uterine infection after childbirth. The exact reason behind adenomyosis is unknown, but it depends on the estrogen level. 2.IUD-  IUD may increase menstrual cramps during your period for the first few months of use. If the lower abdomen cramp persists or gets worse, you may need to consider having the IUD removed and choosing another birth control method. 3.Cervical stenosis- Cervical stenosis can be defined as narrowing or blocking the cervix. Sometimes it has no symptoms. It may occur before menopause. Cervical stenosis can cause infertility because of the narrowing of the cervix and pus accumulation in the uterus. Cervical stenosis can result in many critical conditions like menopause, abnormal bleeding, Cancer of the cervix. B.)Extrauterine cause of secondary dysmenorrhea (Painful Cramps Lower Abdomen): 1.Endometriosis: Endometriosis is a painful disorder in which the tissue from the lining of the uterus grows outside of the uterus, commonly on the fallopian tube, ovary. The fallopian tube may block due to endometriosis. In endometriosis, tissue like endometrium acts as endometrium, and it breaks down in each menstruation. Endometriosis of ovary can cause endometriomas. Menstrual cramp is a primary symptom of endometriosis. You may also face low back and abdominal pain. Endometriosis can be one of the reasons for impotence for otherwise healthy couples. 2.Ovarian cyst or tumor: Maximum women haven’t idea about their ovarian cyst. Menstrual cramps, abdominal pain can be the primary symptom of ovarian cyst that may lead to infertility because it prevents ovum maturation. In an ovary cyst, the ovary may enlarge that and increase the chance of painful twisting of your ovary( ovarian torsion ). Even tumors can develop. One of the best things you do to protect and improve your health is to stay informed. 3.PID(Pelvic inflammatory disease):  PID is an infection and inflammation of the upper genital tract organs, typically involving the uterus (endometrium), fallopian tubes, ovaries, and pelvic peritoneum. It usually occurs for sexually transmitted bacteria. In PID  – Bilateral lower abdominal and pelvic pain, backache, fever, lethargy, purulent vaginal discharge. C.)Non-gynecological cause of secondary dysmenorrhea: 1.Psychosomatic disorders: Psychosomatic factors are widely believed that emotional stress can increase the intensity of menstrual cramps. Anxiety, depression, and tension may significantly increase the intensity of the pain by decreasing the pain threshold. 2.Irritable bowel syndrome: It is the most common cause of chronic pelvic pain (CPP). It is a functional disorder and idiopathic. Women with Irritable bowel syndrome most frequently report dysmenorrhea. Conclusion of Painful Cramps Lower Abdomen : If you notice prolonged painful menstruation or severe menstrual cramps. You should take proper steps as it deals with your future life, physical and mental health conditions. You should know that continuous menstrual cramps may indicate a critical problem. Consult with the health care professionals or doctor for proper help. Please share your thought below!

STROKE
STROKE

“Causes and prevention of stroke” that everyone must know.

Definition: Stroke is the sudden loss of neurological function caused by a temporary or permanent cut of the blood supply to any part of the brain. Knowledge about the causes and prevention of stroke is essential to grapple with stroke. Cerebrovascular accident is the 4th leading cause of death and the leading cause of disability. The most common problem is the motor deficit. Other neurological deficits are visual, perceptual, sensory, communication, swallowing. CAUSE OF STROKE: We can broadly classify the cause of stroke in Ischemic or occlusive (85%) and hemorrhagic(15%). Unfortunately, there is not a quick and easy laboratory or clinical test to determine for sure that the patient lying in front of you is having a stroke. So knowing about the Causes and prevention of stroke is important. 1. Atherosclerotic (thrombotic) :  Atherosclerosis is a major contributory factor in cerebrovascular disease. Atherosclerosis is the narrowing of arteries by plaque. The accumulation of lipid, fibrin, complex carbohydrate, and calcium cause plaque formation. Plaque may lead to progressive narrowing of blood vessels. Commonly carotid artery, middle cerebral artery, the vertebral artery is affected. 2.The non-atheromatous disease of vessels wall : Systemic autoimmune collagen disease. (Rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus ). Inflammation in your blood vessels(Vasculitis). Polyarteritis nodosa. Granulomatous vasculitis. Example – Wegener’s granulomatosis. 3. Embolism :  Embolism induces stroke. An embolism occurs when clots migrate from the source to the distal site. Block more distal cerebral arteries causing cessation of blood flow leads to ischemia. The Source of emboli can be cardiac, aortic, arterial, from a venous origin in the pelvis or lower limbs, fracture site. A common source of embolus is the cardiovascular system. 4. The disease of blood: Coagulopathies – (Coagulation abnormalities may be genetic or acquired). This is a cause of ischemic stroke.  5. Cerebral venous thrombosis: Combine oral contraceptive or estrogen excess give rise to thrombosis of the cerebral vein. 6. Decreased cerebral perfusion: Hypotension, cardiac arrhythmia, too much bleeding can cause the inadequate blood supply to the affected area.   7. Hemorrhagic stroke : Hemorrhagic stroke is mainly two types (according to the site of bleeding) – parenchymal hemorrhage into the functional tissue of the brain (15%). Subarachnoid space –hemorrhage between the arachnoid membrane and pia mater (5%).  Cause of hemorrhage – Hypertension. Amyloid protein builds up in the wall of the artery called Cerebral amyloid angiopathy(CAA). Aneurysm. Hemophilia (bleeding disorder). Drug abuse. Abuse of Cocaine may cause vasospasm, cerebral vasculitis, enhanced platelet aggregation, cardioembolism, and hypertensive surges. Trauma can cause an intracerebral hemorrhage. PREVENTION OF STROKE: We can prevent stroke by improving public awareness concerning the early warning sign and Causes and prevention of stroke. Early warning signs identified by the American Heart Association and National Stroke Association, known as FAST. F- Face Drooping. A-Arm Weakness. S-Speech Difficulty.  T-Time to call. 1. CONTROL HYPERTENSION :  There is a direct relationship between blood pressure levels and the risk of any stroke. Lowering the blood pressure in hypertensive patients, reducing the risk of stroke. Recurrence of stroke in an individual prevented by control BP. Systolic blood pressure (SBP) 130–139 mm Hg and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) 80–89 mm Hg is shown to reduce stroke occurrence. You can control hypertension by: Check blood pressure at regular intervals if you have hypertension. Keep DIGITAL BP MONITOR in the home.  Proper medication. Physical activity- 50 to 60-minute rhythmic exercise like brisk walking, cycling, swimming. (Regular exercise help to reduce the risk of coronary artery disease and decrease blood pressure) A person who practices yoga with breathing and relaxation exercises daily. This may lower blood pressure. Avoid smoking. Meditation helps to reduce stress. Diet – Reduce sodium intake ( tips: read the food label, processed food, one teaspoon is equal to 2300 mg Na, take less processed food ). Maintain proper weight. Dark chocolate– Shown to reduce blood pressure. Proper sleep. Coffee- Caffeine can raise blood pressure to 10 mmHg.  2. LOWERING YOUR BLOOD CHOLESTEROL: High-level cholesterol has no noticeable symptoms. After 40 you need to check the cholesterol level. If you have overweight, hypertension, diabetes, and a history of heart disease due to cholesterol. Hypothyroidism is the cause of an increased level of LDL cholesterol.  You can control cholesterol by: Proper diet- Increase consume soluble fibre-rich food (beans, legumes, whole grains, flax, apples, and citrus). Avoid artificial trans fat (Cake, popcorn, hydrogenated vegetable oil, donuts, cheeseburger). Less sugar intake. Take many seasonal fruit-vegetables and Indian spices (garlic, turmeric, ginger, clove have a profound effect on reducing cholesterol. This spice contains vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants). Drink green tea. Daily exercise. Yoga.  Maintain a healthy weight. 3. MANAGE YOUR DIABETES : About 10% of newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus patients have suffered in stroke within five years of diagnosis. You can control your diabetes by- Diet control-Vegetable (carrot, cabbage, tomato, beans, etc.), Fruit (berry, orange, melon, apple), Whole grains, Less fat dairy product, Stop sugar intake, Vitamin C-rich food. Daily exercise- Average 150 minutes of exercise in a week. Proper medication. Quit smoking. Reduce stress- by meditation. Yoga. 4.MENTAL STRESS: Chronic emotional stress, anxiety can lead to stroke. Exercise daily, Get proper sleep, eat healthy food, Coffee, induce stress, Spent time with friends and family, Practice mindfulness, Yoga, Deep breathing. 5. STOP TAKING COMBINED ORAL CONTRACEPTIVES: Use alternative of OCP. For example -paraGard (IUD), withdrawal method, the sponge, male Female condom, cervical cap. 6.STOP SMOKING: Nicotine replacement therapy, avoid alcohol and other triggers, healthy lifestyle helps to quit smoking. CONCLUSION: Stroke is the most common neurological emergency. Treatment must be started as soon as possible to prevent death and disabilities. Seizures, syncope, hypoglycemia, metabolic encephalopathy, central nervous system tumor also produce similar symptoms like stroke. “Risk Factor Of Stroke” 7 Gigantic Influences

Stroke is one of the leading causes of death and disability. Prevention is better than cure. Preventing the risk factor of stroke is the goal for us. Cerebrovascular disease or stroke prohibition is more likely to reduce death and disability than any medical or surgical advance in management. RISK FACTORS ARE- 1. HYPERTENSION INCREASES THE Risk Factor Of Stroke: Hypertension is a significant factor in the development of thrombotic cerebral infarction and intracranial haemorrhage. There is no critical blood pressure level. The risk is related to the height of blood pressure and increases throughout the whole range from regular to hypertensive. A 6mm Hg fall in diastolic blood pressure is equal to a 40% fall in the fatal and non-fatal stroke rate in a hypertensive patient. Systolic hypertension elderly is also a serious issue for CVD.  2. HEREDITARY: Stroke is not hereditary. If a close family member has had a stroke, some of the risk factors may be hereditary. Such as high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol. In people under 75 years of age chance of men have more strokes than women.  3. HOW ORAL CONTRACEPTIVES INCREASES THE “Risk Factor Of Stroke”: Combine oral contraception contains a high estrogen dose, which increases the risk of thrombosis, and thrombosis may lead to stroke. OCP increases the risk of Ischemic stroke. OCP does not appear to increase the risk of hemorrhagic stroke. Modern combined oral contraceptive pills have a lower dose of estrogen. Less stroke chance than older contraceptive formulations. 4. BLOOD CHOLESTEROL (MAINLY LDL) Having too much bad cholesterol in the blood can cause fatty deposits to build up in arteries narrowed and stiffed, making it harder for blood to flow. Also increases the chance of a blood clot developing. The blood clot may cause a stroke, poor diet, obesity, lack of exercise, smoking; this factor helps to increase bad cholesterol. 5. DIABETES CAN CAUSE TO Stroke: The risk of cerebral infarction is increased twofold in diabetes. Age and previous stroke is the main predictor of stroke in diabetes. Diabetes is a well-established risk factor for stroke. Diabetes can cause pathologic changes in blood vessels at various locations and lead to stroke if cerebral vessels are directly affected. Post-stroke outcomes are more deficient in patients with stroke with uncontrolled glucose levels. Controlling diabetes and other associated risk factors are effective ways to prevent initial strokes and stroke recurrence. 6. SMOKING: Carbon monoxide (smoking) reduces the amount of oxygen in your blood, and nicotine increases the heart rate, raising blood pressure. And blood pressure may lead to stroke. 7. MENTAL STRESS: Stress is a big problem in the medical field as it contributes to 75% of bodily diseases. Stress may produce some body reaction. This is called General Adaptation Syndrome (GAS). The hormonal responses occurring in the body (ACTH axis) play a defensive role against stressors. Stress leads to major problems. Some of them are Tachycardia (Increased heart rate with irregularity of the heart rhythm), Hypertension (High blood pressure), and Coronary disease (Heart attack).   CONCLUSION Of Risk Factor Of Stroke: We control our modifiable risk factor of stroke like- Hypertension by medication yoga, use an alternative of oral contraceptive. Decrease LDL (bad)cholesterol and increase HDL(good)cholesterol by diet/ exercise. Control diabetes by daily exercise /diet/medication. Stop smoking. Reduce mental stress by a different method of meditation.  “Tell me your thoughts below !”
